In 2011 Vandervort Architects was invited to join a select group of architects from across the country to design homes for Lindal Cedar Home’s Architects Collaborative (LAC).
Lindal’s pre-fab model involves a kit-of-parts approach and a catalog of prepared home designs. Our approach to this challenge was to create modern designs that were inspired by Lindal’s historic style while focusing on sustainability and site adaptability.
Our “2270” model is based on an iconic gable with attachments emphasizing the view and the entry. In 2013 our clients, who had been trying to find the right design for their beautiful Orcas Island property, came across the 2700 plan and knew that it was just what they needed – with a few modifications.
We worked with the client to upgrade the spec and customize the spaces for their needs while still working within the Lindal system.
