Lake Roesiger Residence

This waterfront property on Lake Roesiger in Snohomish County, Washington had been in the clients’ family since the 60’s.  The wooded lot with its small cabin had high sentimental value to them but the condition of the existing cabin and its limited size required the construction of a new residence.  The goal was to maintain the natural, rustic character of the property while providing a roomy, cozy, modern home that would maximize views of the lake and interact with the outdoors.

Since this was a second home, the budget was a major concern.  With the client and builder we worked to limit the square footage required and simplify construction and finishes to meet the budget while creating beautiful spaces and a home that suits its location.  The 1,900 square foot home includes three bedrooms plus an office upstairs with the main level devoted to open living that includes a great room and a separate family room.  The main level maintains openness and connection to the outdoors from the front yard to the rear and continuing to the lake allowing light from all sides and views of the forest and lake from all spaces.

The exterior uses simple materials and forms to achieve the modern, Scandinavian inspired design the client desired while still blending with the site.  The red siding accents are a nod to the original cabin which was similarly clad.
